SS 317L is a low-carbon version of Grade 317, offering improved weldability while maintaining high tensile strength and resistance to intergranular corrosion. It contains elevated levels of molybdenum (3.0-4.0%) and nickel (11-15%), making it particularly effective in environments containing sulfuric, acetic, and tartaric acids, as well as chloride-bearing solutions. This makes it a suitable material for chemical processing, paper and pulp mills, power plants, food processing units, and marine components.
